Did you know that your allergies can manifest themselves in coughing, swelling and other symptoms?

Allergies cause your immune system to react to certain substances in the air, such as pollen, dust mites or pet dander. In some cases, allergies affect the condition of your eyes, nose and throat.

How is allergy diagnosed?

The most important things:

  • 1st step in diagnosing allergy : the history of the patient - this helps in finding potential contact with allergen
  • 2nd Step : Ruling out infection
  • 3rd Step: Blood test (Total serum IgE) to confirm the diagnosis of allergy and its severity
  • 4th Step : For further confirmation, a Skin prick test (allergy test) is done. This is the gold standard test for allergy.

In the skin prick test, a tiny bit of the allergen is applied to the skin. Inflammation or other symptoms indicates an allergy, which is documented.
